Lakota East senior Azariyah Bryant is a star track & field competitor, who has won eight GMC championships in individual and relay events, and holds numerous school and conference running records.

Success began early in her varsity career. As a freshman, she was a member of the 4x100 relay team that won the district, regional and Ohio state championship (in a state-record time of 45.82.) She also was part of a state runner-up 4x200 relay team and, individually, was third at state in the long jump. It helped boost the Lakota East girls' team to its first-ever Ohio state team championship.

Last season as a junior, Azariyah won both the 100 and 200 dashes at the GMC Championships and was regional champion in the 100. She was named GMC Co-Runner of the Year and first team all-city (Enquirer). At the Ohio state championships, she finished third in the 100 (12.05), although she had the fastest qualifying time in that event at 11.80. At this year's GMC Championships, she won the 100 dash in a league-record time of 11:82, the 200 dash in a league-record time of 24.19, and was on the winning 4x100 relay team (47.73). She was named GMC Runner of the Year for the second straight year. At this season's district championships, she won the 100 (11.78) and the 200 (24.89) dashes, then won those same events at the regional championships along with a 4x100 relay. She capped it all off at the Ohio state championships when she won the 100 dash in 11.60 and the 200 dash in 23.94.

A super student with a 4.3 GPA, Azariyah will compete in track & field next year at the University of Illinois. Her favorite athlete is Allyson Felix, favorite entertainer and most-like-to-meet is Drake, favorite book is The Princess Saves Herself in this One (by Amanda Lovelace) and favorite movie is Polar Express.
