Now in his fifth season of playing varsity basketball, Simon Kenton senior Kelly Niece is one of the top guards in Northern Kentucky; in his great career, he has scored 2,100+ points and this season is leading Northern Kentucky in scoring, averaging 28.8 points a game. He is putting up impressive numbers in his senior campaign - 42 points vs. Dixie Heights, 27 points vs. Lafayette, 26 points vs. Boone County and Campbell County.

Kelly is coming off an all-star junior campaign that saw him average 19.1 points per game and 3.7 rebounds per game, 1.2 assists per game and 1.6 steals per game, all the while recovering from knee surgery. He hit 36 3-pointers and shot 80 percent from the foul line. He averaged 23.4 points per game as a sophomore.

Big games last season included scoring 39 points vs. Collins, 38 points vs. Scott County, 33 points vs. South Oldham and 28 points vs. Dixie Heights. His play was recognized with many honors, including being named 32nd District Tournament MVP. He was also named to the 8th region all-tournament team, was named as a NKAC Div. I all-star and was honorable mention all-state.

A good student who is active in community service, Kelly also plays for the Indiana Elite basketball club team and plans to play at the next level but has not yet selected a college.

His favorite athlete is Tyler Herro, favorite entertainer is J Cole, favorite book is Dune, favorite movie is The Dark Knight and most-like-to-meet is Michael Jordan.
