Newport ranked third in Kentucky in the final media poll at the end of the regular season.

Jabari is a member of the elite 1,000+ point club in his varsity career. A guard, Jabari his junior year averaged 12 points-4.7 rebounds a game for the 27-8 Wildcats, who were 9th Region champions for the first time since 2010. In the regional championship game, Jabari had a memorable moment -- with 2.5 seconds remaining in a tied game, he hit a jumper to win the game over Cooper and the regional championship. In the game, he filled the stat sheet with eight points-four rebounds-three assists and two blocked shots. The Wildcats went on to its first state tournament appearance since 1955, but lost to Lyon County in the first round of the State Sweet 16. For his play last season, he was named second-team All-Northern Kentucky by the Enquirer and he was named to the all-region team.

Another great memory-maker was this season when he scored 11 against Huntington Prep in a come-from-behind 58-55 win vs. one of the nation's top prep basketball programs. He also played a key role in Newports's 9th Region semifinals' win vs. Lloyd when he led the Wildcats with 14 points and eight rebounds with three assists. Jabari has earned many honors, including being named MVP of the All-A regional tournament.

His favorite athlete and most-like-to-meet is LeBron James, favorite entertainer is NBA Young Boy, favorite reading is sports' magazines, and favorite movie is Like Mike. He also plays for the Griffin Elite summer club.

COACH'S QUOTE – “Jabari is a great role model in the school; he is always positive and easy to coach. Jabari as a basketball player takes a great deal of pride in making his teammates better and winning.”
