from Ryle High
School is an elite
athlete —
Viktoriya
Emelianova, a state
champion in three
different sports:
outdoor track &
field, indoor track
& field and
wrestling.
In outdoor track &
field, Viktoriya
unfortunately
recently suffered
broken bones in her
foot and, showing
her toughness, had
to wear a medical
wrap in state
competition this
year. Nevertheless,
she managed to win
the state
championship yet
again (her second
straight) in the
shot put at the
Kentucky Class 3A
states track & field
championships. Her
heave of 40-2.5 was
three feet further
than the
second-place
finisher.
Viktoriya her junior
year won the
regional track &
field meet in both
shot put and discus,
and at the Kentucky
state championship
she was state
champion in the shot
put (42-10.5) and
was state runner-up
in the discus
(124-10). She holds
the school record in
both events and also
is the school
record-holder for
the indoor shot put,
which she won at
state two weeks
after winning a
state wrestling
championship at 185
pounds. And, she was
named a finalist by
the Cincinnati
Enquirer's High
School Sports Awards
for Wrestler of the
Year honors.
In wrestling her
senior season, she
went 10-0 with five
pins and won the
state title, the
first time girls'
wrestling was
officially
sanctioned as a
state-competition
sport by the
Kentucky High School
Athletic
Association.
A great student who
is active in
community service,
Viktoriya will
compete in track &
field at the next
level, at Dartmouth
University. Her
favorite athlete and
most-like-to-meet is
Ryan Crouser, her
favorite entertainer
is Bruno Mars, her
favorite book is
Atomic Habits and
her favorite movie
is Spider Man: No
Way Home.
