Though missing much of this season with a back injury, one of Northern Kentucky's best baseball players over the past few years has been Covington Catholic senior Jackson Reardon. He came back toward the end of this season to help lead the Colonels to a District 35 runner-up finish and was named to the district all-tournament team and the 9th Region all-tournament team.
An all-star shortstop, Jackson entered a promising senior season on the heels of a great junior campaign when he led the Colonels with a .463 average, with 36 RBI,15 doubles, six triples and three home runs. He stole 20 bases and scored 47 runs to lead CovCath to a 31-6 record.
For his accomplishments, Jackson earned numerous awards, including being named NKAC Div. I Player of the Year, Northern Kentucky Player of the Year, Ninth Region Player of the Year and first-team all-state.
An academic star (4.3 GPA) who is active in community service, Jackson also played a season of varsity football for the Colonels in 2023. He has committed to play baseball at the next level at the University of Cincinnati. His summer club team is the Midland Redskins.
In his spare time, he enjoys playing golf and playing cards with his friends. His favorite athlete and most-like-to-meet is Dansby Swanson, favorite entertainer is Adam Sandler, favorite book is Project Hail Mary by Andy Weir and favorite movie is The Dark Knight.
COACH'S QUOTE
–
“I have been very fortunate to coach many outstanding athletes in my 49 seasons as the CovCath baseball coach, and Jackson might be the finest young man of them all. He was an outstanding student in my Honors Biology class as a freshman, and won the starting shortstop job on the varsity baseball team as a freshman. His leadership is his best trait as his teammates voted him captain as a junior and a senior.”
—Bill Krumpelbeck, Varsity Baseball Coach
