They also led the Colonels to a state team title. This season, Alex was named as a finalist for the 2025 Cincinnati Enquirer's High School Sports Awards' NKY tennis Player of the Year.

The doubles team went 26-0 last season and won a regional title then went on to defeat Louisville St. Xavier 6-0, 6-1 to win a second straight state title. Together with Kalei, they were named Northern Kentucky Doubles Team of the Year by the Enquirer.

CovCath tennis teams have won two state and 24 region championships since Al Hertsenberg became head coach in 1991. The Colonels have also had three state champions in singles and two in doubles. Alex switched from playing doubles to singles for his senior season and promptly won the regional singles championship and the Kentucky state singles championship.
